The Ediacaran

About

The Ediacaran is an Indie Folk / Alt-R&B project built on the collaboration between Bastian Kladny (Bastido) and Florian Hausner (Mr.Mahous). Grounded in contributions from musicians across a diverse range of genres as its basic concept, the project reaches beyond both geographical and stylistic limits. With its name referring to a prehistoric era in which various life forms coexisted peacefully, The Ediacaran cites inspiration from artists such as Jack Johnson, Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend and John Mayer. Most songs are created like a jam session in super slow motion: following a basic idea, each musician contributes their own part independently before passing it on, which results in an unpredictable collaboration that is largely based on the creativity of each individual. The debut EP Contemplations, released in July 2025, marks the start of the project and precedes the first album coming in June 2026.Contributing musicians & artists:

Time Out

Time Out is a quietly reassuring song about standing close to someone when the world feels overwhelming. With calm resolve, it offers encouragement and perspective, reminding us that distance can soften the weight of problems while not everything has to be solved all at once.

Chroma

Chroma ties in with the intimate sound of artists such as Jack Johnson, Nick Drake, and Kings of Convenience, speaking about the power that lies in self-awareness. At the song's core is an inner turning point and the potential that can be found in self-reflection.

Strawberries

Strawberries is a love letter to the values of freedom and democracy that have long been taken for granted in a united Europe and suddenly seem increasingly fragile. Lyrically moving between dream and reality, the second single from the collaborative project The Ediacaran tells of the subjective perception of what individual freedom feels like - and of the quiet uncertainty of a Europe in transition.

Screens

with Georgia

As the the first release by the collaborative project The Ediacaran, the song Screens reflects on the fleeting, often fragmented moments that define a world shaped by smartphones and social media. On a jazzy Alt-R&B rhythm, it captures the tension between the desire for connection and the weight of constant digital presence, offering a moment of escape from the overwhelming digital noise.
